Are you sure about that? I think you have it backwards. 13.6 inches of water
is equal to 1 inch of mercury. (I had my numbers wrong, sorry.) One inch of
mercury is 3.4 kPa (kilopascals.) Most automotive gauges work in inches of
mercury (Hg.) I have some 0-30" of water gauges for exactly this purpose
(syncing CrossFire TBI's.)

Ermmmm--1" of water is equal to 13.6" of mercury, same ratio as their
specific gravities.

Pretty easy to make a pair of manometers with a board, an old yardstick,
two loops of clear plastic tubing, some staples, and some water with a dab
of food coloring in it.

Careful not to suck the water into the engine, but a manometer's accuracy
will put most gauges to shame.
