You are wrong about the price. You can get a new AUJP MEMCAL from Jeff Kopp 
at superchevyparts for about $45. He occasionally posts to this list. His

As for your question about other reading on tuning, I found a training manual 
for Accel DFI Engine Management systems on the Mr. Gasket website. I 
downloaded it and read it cover to cover. It is not exactly the same as GM 
EPROM tuning but it is a good primer on overall tuning of electronic fuel
