RE: Call for standards: EPROM/cal editing software
a standard definition file would be very nice, but there are several
other points to look at:
a) would the authors of current products on the market/ftp sites
be willing to modify their programs to support the new
standards?
b) from a programming language standpoint, what is the easiest
and most efficient way of reading/writing the definition
files.
in my case i'm more concerned with b) as i'm just starting to
write the program. since i'm using vb6 i can use windoze built-in
standards to read .ini files which wouldn't support this format.
if i knew how to/were using c/c++/java, i'm sure it wouldn't
be much of a problem.
now if one were to use a database of the end-users choice
with calls to and standard table structure things would
change a whole lot too.

To access the number of columns in the Idle Temp Correction table you would
use an XPath like this:
XPath("/image/IdleTempCorrect/columns/text()")
<image>
image_size="0x1000"
file_offset="0"
checksum_addr="0"
checksum_size="2"
checksum_start="2"
checksum_end="0xfff"
<PromID
type="1"
address="0x02"
name="Prom ID"
data_width="2"
/>
